The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced the appointment of Kimberly Spykerman to Area Director Oceania, effective 1 June 2023.
Based in Sydney, Spykerman replaces outgoing director, Stephanie Yong, who will return to Singapore in the role of Deputy Director (Partnership and Engagement) with the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) within the Ministry of National Development.
Spykerman joined STB in 2018 as Assistant Director in the communications team, so brings plenty of experience in public and media relations, especially around raising destination awareness of Singapore and STB activities.
An English literature graduate of the National University of Singapore, she also helped steer STB communications through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before joining STB, Spykerman plied her trade for 10 years in print and broadcast journalism, including at mainstream media outlets The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia.
“I’m thrilled to start a new chapter in Australia with the Oceania team”, she said.
“We know Aussies and Kiwis love visiting Singapore, and I’m excited to work with the team to showcase all of the new and reimagined experiences the city has to offer, which we hope will inspire return visits.
“I also look forward to continuing the great work and strong partnerships the team have already forged in-market.”
Singapore Tourism authorities expect 2023 visitor numbers to double last year’s arrivals.
The city-state also recently became the first country to be certified as a sustainable destination by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
