Sofitel Hotels & Resorts has appointed Rachela Virgara as the new Director of Sales for its flagship Australian property, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, where she will be responsible for leading growth in the business and corporate events sector.
The new appointment follows recent hires across Sofitel’s parent company Accor for its new Melbourne properties.
With a strong background in sales and events, Virgara joins Sofitel to drive the business events segment across global portfolios for corporate, wholesale and airline accounts.
She joins the team from her most recent role as Director Sales MICE at Hyatt Regency Sydney as part of her tenure of more than five years at the property.
Prior to that, Virgara held a variety of MICE and sales roles at Flight Centre Travel Group’s cievents, Adelaide Oval and Hilton.
Her role with Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will see her lead the sales team in developing and implementing a strategic approach to secure market leadership in the business and corporate events sector.
