Movers + Shakers: World's 'best airline' appoints new CEO as it looks to expand its network

The world’s top airline has a new boss. Qatar Airways Group has introduced new leadership, appointing Hamad Ali Al-Khater as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. His move follows senior roles across Qatar’s aviation and energy sectors.

The world’s top airline has a new boss. Qatar Airways Group has introduced new leadership, appointing Hamad Ali Al-Khater as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. His move follows senior roles across Qatar’s aviation and energy sectors.

Al-Khater most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at Hamad International Airport, where he led operational performance, major infrastructure projects and passenger experience improvements. He also brings experience from QatarEnergy, where he oversaw development and strategic initiatives. 

Earlier this year, Qatar Airways took out the World’s Best Airline award at the World Airline Awards. 

According to the group, the appointment marks a significant shift for the airline as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
