1. Toms joins itravel

Former helloworld Marketing Manager, Rashelle Toms has joined the itravel team where she will help the group grow its profile down under.

Commencing the role of ‘Marketing and Product Manager’ on Monday, Rashelle’s key responsibilities will be working with preferred suppliers to market their brand and help stores with their local marketing campaigns.

Rashelle moves over to itravel after nine years at helloworld (formerly the Jetset Travel Group).

2. New GM takesover AYANA in Bali

AYANA Resort and Spa Bali new GM Clive EdwardsAYANA Resort and Spa Bali has announced the promotion of Clive Edwards to General Manager, recognising the key role he has played over the last five years in leading the exclusive Jimbaran resort to a successful performance.

Clive will oversee the continued evolution of AYANA Resort and Spa Bali – Bali’s only integrated resort, which also includes The Villas at AYANA Resort and RIMBA Jimbaran Bali by AYANA.

Clive brings over 15 years experience in luxury hospitality to the role.

After starting his career in his native Jamaica, he joined AYANA in 2009 as Director of Rooms, Executive Assistant Manager. He was appointed Acting General Manager in 2012, through to the opening of RIMBA in November 2013.

That year, he was appointed Corporate Director of Rooms Operations for Capella Hotel Group based in Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to Bali in 2014 as interim General Manager of AYANA and RIMBA.

His official appointment was announced by Horst Schulze, chairman of hotel management company Capella Hotel Group.

Clive said 2015 will be a big year for the resort as it builds on the successes following RIMBA’s opening, which effectively repositioned AYANA as Bali’s only integrated resort.

 

3. Stuart takes the reins at NCL

Andy moversNorwegian Cruise Line Holdings has appointed company veteran Andy Stuart as the new President and Chief Operating Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Mr Stuart stepped into the role this week following the resignation of Drew Madsen.

Stuart has been with NCL since 1988 and has held a number of leadership positions, most recently as Executive Vice President of Sales.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Chief Executive Officer Frank Del Rio said Andy is synonymous with the brand and is already well known and respected among guests, travel partners, crew and team members.

Stuart has been instrumental in building the Norwegian brand, particularly in the roll out and marketing of the line’s signature Freestyle Cruising.

He also greatly strengthened relationships with travel partners with the introduction of Partners First, the company’s corporate philosophy of always putting its travel partners first.

During his 27-year tenure with the company, he has held responsibility for a number of key areas including: Global Sales, Passenger Services, Revenue Management, Marketing and Public Relations.

He also served as Chief Product Officer, responsible for delivery of the Freestyle Cruising product across the Norwegian fleet, ensuring that it provided exceptional value and quality for guests and was consistent with the marketing and brand positioning of the company.

 

4. Sales veteran joins Travel and Transport

Shannon Garcia joins Travel and Transport Shannon Garcia has joined the team at Travel and Transport as Managing Director, Global Sales Strategy.

Shannon has over 20 years of experience in sales, global travel technology, consulting, and client management expertise. In her new role at Travel and Transport, Shannon will be focusing on large market and global sales while supporting global initiatives.

Prior to joining Travel and Transport, Shannon acted as Vice President and Principal for Advito Consulting, building on her longtime role as Vice President of Global Sales for BCD Travel.

Prior to that, Shannon held various positions in the hotel industry including an executive role at Prime Hospitality as well as national sales positions at Omni Hotels and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Shannon is an active member of both ACTE and GBTA.

 

5. CJ steps in to manage Outrigger Waikiki events

Events and activities at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort will be organised by Christopher-James ‘CJ’ Sword after he was appointed manager of the sector.

In his new role, Sword plans, coordinates and implements services for all organised functions and events at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort working closely with the resort’s sales and operations teams.

He will continue to represent the hotel as the resort’s official ‘Ambassador of Aloha’, a role he’s enjoyed over the past five years as a bellman/doorman for the hotel.

Outrigger Resorts is pleased to announce the promotion of Christopher-James “CJ” Sword to events and activities manager at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, effective Feb. 5, 2015.

In his new role, Sword plans, coordinates and implements services for all organized functions and events at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort working closely with the resort’s sales and operations teams. He will continue to represent the hotel as the resort’s official “Ambassador of Aloha,” a role he’s enjoyed over the past five years as a bellman/doorman for the hotel.

Prior to Outrigger, Sword was an educational assistant at Kailua High School with the Department of Education; a transportation security officer with the TSA, Department of Homeland Security; and a loss prevention investigator/agent for Macy’s.

Active in the community, Sword is a soccer coach and referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization; a soundboard/AV operator for Calvary Episcopal Church and also involved in music ministry playing drums and guitar and on vocals. The Institute for Human Services has been fortunate to be the recipient of Sword’s time and talents as a volunteer food server and entertainer.
