1. CBRE takes a new direction for Perth hotels division

CBRE has announced the appointment of leading property professional Ryan McGinnity to lead its highly successful Hotels division in Western Australia.

Mr McGinnity has been promoted to the role of Director, where he will assume leadership of CBRE Hotels in Perth, responsible for the firm’s strategic direction in the Western Australia hotel, leisure and pub market.

With more than 13 years ’ experience in the hotel market, Mr McGinnity is one of Perth’s leading property professionals, having been involved in some of the state’s most significant hotel transactions and named Commercial Salesperson of the Year at the 2014 REIWA Awards and 2015 REIA Awards.

The new leadership structure will allow industry stalwart and CBRE Hotels longest serving employee David Kennedy to focus increased attention on new business development and client care as well as maintaining his involvement in Perth’s largest hotel transactions.

 

2. Industry leader Tony Lorenz named CEO of AlliedPRA, Inc.

AlliedPRA, Inc., a global leader in the Destination Management Company (DMC) sector, announces industry veteran, Tony Lorenz, CMM has joined the award-winning company as its new Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.

Well known as an individual who thrives on value-creation and intelligent risk, Lorenz will play a vital role in taking AlliedPRA to the next level of Destination Management; crafting a new strategic path within the business events space.

He will serve alongside long-time DMC icon, Denise Dornfeld whose position elevates from President to Chairperson of AlliedPRA. Together the two will craft a robust global growth plan to solidify the company’s position as the leading Destination Management Company worldwide.

In this key position, Lorenz will be charged with overseeing the strategic direction, operations, sales and marketing functions of the organization. In addition, he will expand the franchise system, strategic global partnerships, and identify opportunities to advance program technologies and service delivery methods.

Lorenz brings decades of experience to AlliedPRA in the fields of finance, entrepreneurship, operations, management, technology, sales and marketing.

He has been a Founder and CEO of three successful event-focused businesses, most recently launching an award-winning thought leadership online platform, BOB.tv – Best of Business, focused on bringing the best progressive educational content from targeted industries to benefit business professionals.

As the Co-Founder and CEO, he originated the concept, developed the business model, partnerships and solutions through collaboration with industry-leading associations.

Prior to that, Lorenz sold his successful event marketing agency, ProActive, to Freeman, extending Freeman’s clear leadership position in the global events industry.

Over four years, Lorenz led the creative team for Freeman, integrating his company into the organization. In addition, Lorenz holds a wide variety of civic and industry leadership positions, deep financial background and extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions to aid AlliedPRA in its aggressive growth plans.

He’s a graduate of Harvard Business School – Owner/President Management program, and holds Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University.

 

3. Frasers Hospitality introduces new staff

The beginning of 2016 marks the arrival of two new key staff members to Frasers Hospitality’s executive team with the appointment of a Director of Sales and Marketing at Capri by Fraser, Brisbane and a General Manager for Fraser Suites Perth.

Having begun the role on 11 January, Graeme Rutherford has already been welcomed by the Frasers Hospitality team as the new General Manager for Fraser Suites Perth. With over 20 years of operational experience, and most recently holding GM positions within the Rydges Hotel Group, Graeme brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the five-star Perth property.

Prior to moving to Perth five years ago, Graeme has worked all across Australia and New Zealand with tenures in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Rotorua.

Frasers are also pleased to announce the arrival of Stefan Fuchs, Capri by Fraser Brisbane’s new Director of Sales and Marketing commencing today. Stefan started his career in the hotel industry in Switzerland working his way up through various departments over time before moving to Australia. Since his move, Stefan has mainly worked across the Saville, Mantra and Stamford hotel groups in Brisbane and Canberra.

Now calling Brisbane his home, Stefan is looking forward to working with the ever-expanding team at the newest Fraser’s property.

 

4. New executive appointments as CWT

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has announced three key appointments to its executive team.

Andrew Waller, CWT’s current president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, takes on a newly created role; executive vice president, Global Business Transformation. Waller will focus on driving efficiency and organization effectiveness, reshaping CWT’s business model for the future. Waller will be based in Paris and London.

Kelly Kuhn, CWT’s president, Asia-Pacific, will take the role of president, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Global Partners Network, based in London.

Kai Chan, currently general manager, Southeast Asia for CWT, becomes president, Asia Pacific, and part of the global executive team. She will be based in Singapore.

All three positions report directly to Anderson, and are effective 1 February, 2016.
