1. The Albatross flock expands

Albatross Tours has expanded its flock with the addition of a new QLD Business Development Manager, Samantha Tamba to service the needs of travel agents located in QLD and Northern NSW.

Samantha joins Albatross Tours following her recent roles with Insight Vacations and Flight Centre. Steve York, National Sales Manager said: “Her valuable skills and knowledge will be an incredible asset to our growing business.”

In other regions, Albatross Tours will be increasing the capacity of their flock with Kaylene Collins moving to full-time in NSW, and increased hours for BDM’s in other states. Albatross is also recruiting for a Perth based BDM.

 

2. Radisson Blu appoints Director of Sales

Radisson Blu Hotel Sydney has recently appointed Terry Oomens to the role of Director of Sales to lead them into their new $12M re-design.

With a diverse background in hospitality sales and marketing, and extensive experience both overseas and in Australia, Terry will be responsible for the ongoing development of Radisson Blu’s sales strategies both in the domestic and international markets.

Terry has over 20 years of experience that includes sales roles with multinational flagship hotel groups including Hilton Worldwide, Toga Group and Conrad Hotels & Resorts. Terry brings with him a wealth of knowledge in managing large national sales teams, achieving revenue budgets in the M.I.C.E. and events service sector as well as experience in both corporate and leisure markets.

Immediately prior to joining Radisson Blu, Oomens held the role of Director of Venues at Staging Connections where he was responsible for managing and developing the venue relationships across the Staging Connections network.

 

3.New Executive Chef at the Q Station

Q Station Sydney Harbour National Park Manly is thrilled to announce the appointment of Matt Kemp as the new Executive Chef, overseeing all F&B offerings across the property including Boilerhouse Restaurant & Bar from 1 March 2016.

One of Australia’s most well-respected and recognised chefs, Matt Kemp is no stranger to Q Station having been the Ambassador Chef for Boilerhouse Restaurant since March 2014.

Matt’s most recent role up till this month was heading the highly popular Charing Cross Hotel Dining Room in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Formerly of Randwick’s Restaurant Balzac and the hatted Banc Restaurant, amongst many other highly-regarded restaurants, he has worked alongside some of the best in the business.

Following this appointment, a revamp of all F&B offerings including dining at Boilerhouse Restaurant, Conferencing & Events as well as Weddings, will be rolled out over 2016.

 

4. Excite appoints Head of Global Product

Travel agent only wholesaler, Excite Holidays, has today announced the appointment of Louise McAlpine as head of global product contracting.

Louise joins us from her previous role as head of contracting at The Travel Corporation. With global experience working in the travel and hospitality industry in Europe and the USA, Louise has enjoyed leading teams to success.

Louise will lead Excite Holidays’ global product team in securing direct hotel contracts as well as driving forward the company’s market-leading ideas and global expansion plans.

General manager global sales, Andrew Yell said: “We’re confident that Louise’s exceptional track record for achieving results will see her become an integral part of Excite Holidays and our future development.”

 

5. New Sales & Event Manager joins Captain Cook Cruises Fiji

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji is delighted to announce the appointment of Lusiana Sinclair as Sales and Events Manager, based in the Fiji office.

Lusiana brings to the role 15 years of maritime and hotel experience in tourism and hospitality in Fiji. She has been with Adrenalin Fiji Watersports for the past four years and prior to that managed award winning Vatulele Island Resort, Resort.

Born in Fiji, Lusiana completed her secondary school education in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and attended Martin College – Business and Technology Training in Brisbane, Australia, where she graduated in 1994 with an Associate Diploma in Office Administration Travel & Tourism.

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, Australian Managing Director, Jackie Charlton, welcomes Lusiana to the team and looks forward to working with her.

She said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lusiana to the Captain Cook Cruises Fiji team. She brings to the role a wealth of skill, experience and knowledge, which will be a great asset to the company.”

 

7. Sally Irwin joins Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific Airways has appointed Sally Irwin as Manager, Corporate Sales and Business Development Manager NSW/ACT, a role previously held by Richard Jones who was promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager.

Sally joins the airline’s Sydney office from Etihad Airways where she was a corporate sales manager and has a long career in travel and events industries including at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Sydney Turf Club.

She is looking after corporate sales at a national level and leading the NSW/ACT sales team looking after both corporate and retail business.

 

8. Shabir Satya heads up Best Western Haven Glebe

Shabir Satya, (CEO Everjuve Hospitality Group) appointed General Manager Best Western Haven Glebe.

Shabir Satya has been appointed general manager of the refurbished Best Western Haven Glebe, Sydney. Shabir joined Everjuve at its inception in 2014.

He was appointed to lead the company into the Australian market with their flagship hotel Haven Glebe, which has recently joined Best Western Hotels & Resorts. He has worked in hospitality for over a decade with hotel groups including Choice, Oaks Hotels & Resorts and Crowne Plaza (IHG).
