1. APT appoints new Public Relations Manager

APT Group has announced the appointment of Kathleen O’Dwyer as Public Relations Manager.

Kathleen has more than ten years of experience as a journalist and editor working in news and lifestyle media, and is a former newspaper travel editor.

Commenting on the appointment, APT Executive General Manager of Global Marketing & Sales Debra Fox said media was playing a more important role than ever in ensuring APT’s award winning programs were top of mind for both travel agents and travellers.

“When it comes to booking their next cruise or tour, we know that travellers look to their favourite media outlets for information and recommendations,” she said.

“Likewise, agents look to keep up to date with the latest APT itineraries and news through the industry’s array of trade publications.

“Kathleen’s knowledge of media operations and the Australian media landscape will help to ensure that we are there when travellers and agents are looking for us.”

Kathleen will work across the APT Group and will be the Australia and New Zealand media contact for APT, Travelmarvel, Captain’s Choice and Botanica. She will be based in APT’s Cheltenham office.

 

2. Hertz appoints Karen Reeves as Travel Distribution Account Manager

Hertz Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Reeves to the position of Travel Distribution Account Manager for Australia.

Karen will be based in Brisbane and  report to Claire Reynolds, Regional Lead, Travel Distribution Australia & New Zealand.
Karen joined Hertz in October 2011 as a Business Development Manager in the Brisbane Sales team; a role in which she was responsible for the growth and retention of corporate business.

In her new role as Travel and Distribution Account Manager, Karen will focus on developing new and existing customer relationships across all travel segments, tours, online and TMC’s.

“With five years of experience at Hertz under my belt, I’m thrilled to be taking the next step by joining the Travel and Distribution team. I’m particularly looking forward to building relationships with our valued customers.”

3. Helloworld announces appointment of new Independent Chairman

Helloworld announced the appointment of Garry Hounsell as Independent Chairman of the Board of Helloworld Limited.

Mr Hounsell is currently a Director of Treasury Wine Estates Limited (since 2012), Dulux Group Limited (since 2010), Spotless Group Holdings Limited (since 2014) and Integral Diagnostics Limited (since 2015). Mr Hounsell held previous roles including as Chairman of PanAust Limited (2008 to 2015), a Director of Qantas Airways Limited (2005 to 2015), Senior Partner of Ernst & Young, Chief Executive Officer and Country Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen, a Board member of Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) as well as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Mitchell Communication Group Limited.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Helloworld Limited, Andrew Burnes said the appointment was a great outcome for the company.

“We are delighted to welcome Garry Hounsell to the Board of Helloworld Limited as our new Chairman. He brings with him a wealth of experience being a respected Director of a wide range of highly successful Boards as well as an extensive career history in business and financial management of large companies in Australia and overseas.” said Mr Burnes.

The Board and Mr Burnes expressed their appreciation to Rob Marcolina for acting in the role of Chairman since the merger of Helloworld Limited and the AOT Group in February 2016. Mr Marcolina also welcomed the appointment and will resume his Non-Executive Director role.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Board of Helloworld Limited and I look forward to working with Andrew and the Board to continue the growth and development the company has undertaken recently and build on this solid platform for the future,” said Mr. Hounsell.

Mr Hounsell is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.

The appointment is effective immediately.
