1. CLIA’s Christine Duffy named Carnival Cruise Lines president

Cruise industry giant Carnival Corporation announced Wednesday that it has chosen Christine Duffy, head of the Cruise Lines International Association, to lead the brand.

“She brings a wealth of experience to Carnival Cruise Lines that will help the cruise line continue to deliver unmatched vacation experiences to millions of guests each year.”

Duffy has spent the past four years steering the industry’s trade association on a more global path. CLIA has expanded its franchise to almost every region worldwide.

Prior to joining CLIA in 2010, Duffy held the position of president and CEO of Maritz Travel specilising in corporate meeting, incentive and event travel.

 

2. Appointment of non-executive director

3. Burj Al Arab Jumeirah appoints new GM

Jumeirah Group has appointed Anthony McHale as General Manager of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

Anthony McHale takes up the role as of 11th January 2015, joining Jumeirah Group after more than five years as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London.

“Our guests expect the highest level of luxury hospitality and Tony has the experience that promises to guide our hotel and its 1,500 colleagues to continued success.”

4. Accor appoints Kerry Healy as VP sales for asia pacific region

Accor has appointed Ms. Kerry Healy as the Vice President Sales for the Asia Pacific region. Bringing a wealth of sales experience to the team, she will spearhead the strategic sales activity for Accor Asia Pacific region.

Based in Singapore, Ms Healy will work closely with the sales offices across the region to support, define and develop the client strategy.

5. Leo Frankel as Director of Business Development

Conrad Centennial Singapore is pleased to announce the appointment of Leo Frankel as Director of Business Development. He replaces Theresa Choo, Director of Sales and Marketing who has retired from her position after 18 years of service with at the Hotel.

In his role, Leo will oversee the entire Business Development department which includes Sales, Marketing Communications, Reservations, and Revenue Management, with a focus increasing market share and enhancing client engagement to drive revenue, in line with organisational goals.

6. Appointment of Non Executive Director

The board of thl (tourism holdings limited) announced the appointment of Gráinne Troute to the board as a non executive director commencing February 1st 2015 yesterday.

As mentioned at the Annual Meeting on the 26th November with the retirement of Graeme Bowker in February 2015 the board has been conducting a search for a suitable board member.

Gráinne’s background includes Managing Director and executive roles across a broad range of industries including her current role as General Manager Corporate Services at SKYCITY and previously as Managing Director of McDonald’s Restaurants (New Zealand) Limited as well as governance roles within the charitable trust sector.

Under the NZX listing rules Gráinne is an independent director.
