World Expeditions has doubled down on its commitment to sustainable travel with long-time exec Donna Lawrence stepping into the global tour operator’s first full-time Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager role.
Lawrence has been a pivotal member of World Expeditions for more than 20 years, spearheading notable initiatives and collaborations with World Animal Protection, Think Orphanages and World Vision.
In addition to her World Expeditions Foundation board role, Lawrence was instrumental in the 10 Pieces campaign, a global litter collection initiative.
After her part-time Sustainable Travel Manager role was put on pause during the pandemic, she now returns full-time with renewed vigour to advance the company’s CSR initiatives.
In her first 12 months, she will focus on several key objectives, including achieving third-party accreditation to demonstrate the tour operator’s commitment to people and the planet.
She will also work on fulfilling the company’s obligations as a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, supporting global goals to halve emissions and reach Net Zero before 2050.
“Sustainability is interwoven into the DNA of World Expeditions. My move into the role of Corporate Social Responsibility Manager has been a long but very natural progression,” Lawrence said.
“I am most excited about being part of the team responsible for fulfilling our regenerative project goals.
“This philosophy is embedded in our travel itineraries and will be expanded through the World Expeditions Foundation, where we aim to harness the collective force of travellers to raise funds and proactively support communities and improve the natural state of the places we travel.”
World Expeditions recently promoted another long-time employee, Pam Dewar, to National Sales Manager.
