NCL’s AU/NZ sales team joins the Great Cruise Comeback while giving back

Norwegian Cruise Line’s local sales team has joined the ‘Great Cruise Comeback’ onboard Norwegian Encore – and spent time giving back to a local Caribbean community – during their first overseas trip in almost two years.

Members of the Australian and New Zealand sales team took part in NCL’s annual global sales conference, cruising for a week from Miami to the Caribbean on the newest ship in NCL’s fleet, Norwegian Encore – one of the first ships in the fleet to recommence sailing back in August as part of NCL’s gradual return to service – with 11 ships set to be sailing by 23 December.

While visiting St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, more than 100 members of the global NCL team enjoyed an opportunity to give back and support the local community – and coastal environment – by joining a clean-up initiative on Vessup Beach in partnership with the Virgin Islands Conservation Society.

In a further show of support, NCL donated USD$10,000 to the cause.

“It’s so exciting to be travelling and cruising once again, now that we’re celebrating having 11 of our ships back in the water doing what we do best – delivering exceptional holidays at sea,” said Damian Borg, Director of Sales, AUNZ, NCL.

“Having the opportunity to really live our Sail & Sustain program by taking positive action to support the local community and its environment was definitely a highlight.”

Back on board, the team took part in workshops and planning sessions with NCL colleagues from all over the world ahead of the upcoming WAVE season, as well as enjoying the ship’s onboard activities, including some friendly competition as they raced to be first past the post at Encore Speedway – the largest racetrack at sea.

The conference afloat was also an ideal opportunity for the team to experience firsthand  NCL’s Sail Safe programme of mandatory vaccination, universal testing, and multi-layered health and safety protocols, ahead of the planned return of the full fleet in 2022.
