Never Normal: Travellers Choice reveals conference theme and events

Three years after holding its last summit, Travellers Choice returns with its national conference on 25-26 November in Melbourne.

Three years after holding its last summit, Travellers Choice returns with its national conference on 25-26 November in Melbourne.

The travel advisor group, which won the award for Most Outstanding Non Branded Agency Group at the recent National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA), has announced that the two-day conference will be based around the theme, “Never Normal”, which Travellers Choice managing director Christian Hunter says looks beyond the idea that a “new normal” exists for the travel industry in the post-pandemic world.

“Compared to every other Australian business sector, there is very little about the travel industry that can be defined as ‘normal’,” Hunter said.

“Instead, we will explore how the travel landscape is changing and why Travellers Choice is uniquely positioned to deliver success to its member shareholders and business partners.”

Sky-high venue

Along with its theme, Travellers Choice announced the conference will kick off with a welcome function at Melbourne Skydeck on the 88th floor of Eureka Tower.

On the second night, the event will move up to the 89th floor for a “Three Years in the Making” party at the Southern Hemisphere’s highest restaurant and bar, Eureka 89.

Experiential tourism operator Journey Beyond owns both spaces, which reside nearly 300 metres above Melbourne’s Southbank precinct.

Journey Beyond will also be the exclusive venue sponsor for the conference’s social functions.

With MC Tim Campbell back for the event, most of the summit will take place at the Crown Conference Centre and include workshops, a Preferred Supplier Exhibition and keynote speakers.

Travellers Choice expansion

Last week, Travellers Choice added Hunter Valley-based Next Travels to its independent agency network, while two other businesses – NSW’s How We Travel and WA’s Midland Travel – also recently joined the consortium.

“We are proud of the fact that during the pandemic we provided our members with the support each owner needed, when they needed it the most,” Travellers Choice General Manager – Sales Nicola Strudwick said.
