Viking is the world’s leading small-ship cruise operator setting the benchmark for excellence across river, ocean and expedition cruising and they are now looking for an experienced Social Media Specialist to join their integrated marketing team.
Based in Sydney, this role will live and breathe all things social media and work with the digital marketing lead to manage the strategic development, implementation and optimisation of Viking’s paid and organic social media presence, becoming the driving force behind some of their most important marketing channels.

Your responsibilities will include

- Manages all aspects of the social marketing strategy and daily operation of local social channels – Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
- Manages the allocated monthly social budget for optimal performance, delivering to business objectives
- Manages the development of new socially optimised content with the internal creative team and builds associated assets within Facebook Ads Manager/Google Ads/DV360 to ensure content is refreshed regularly
- Maintains dynamic catalogues within Facebook, ensuring content remains up to date and refreshing imagery within the catalogues on a regular basis
- Runs frequent A/B tests to further develop and optimise messaging, creative and placement formats
- Leverages different Campaign and AdSet objectives, configurations and bid strategies to deliver optimal campaign outcomes
- Ensures the timely and accurate daily posting of organic content on Facebook, boosting where appropriate
- Maintains and leverages first party data feeds and pixels within Facebook and YouTube for custom targeting, look-alike audience development and re-targeting
- Leverages native Facebook audience layers to derive audience sub-sets for interest-based targeting
- Develops and implements organic engagement strategies to build followers, generate likes, content shares and user engagement
- Provides content insights and recommendations to marketing team for the development of on-brand social content to use across owned channels
- Manages social commentary and engages Facebook community under direction of the digital marketing lead, including timely and accurate responses to comments and messages in alignment with brand guidelines
- Maintains and develops catalogue of YouTube videos for prospecting and re-targeting in alignment with current campaigns
- Maintains a record of all core content leveraged and performs weekly reporting and attribution analysis
- Writes and distributes a weekly performance report for paid social activity, with both qualitative and quantitative viewpoints
- Co-ordinates and leads the monthly Facebook meeting with our global account contact
- Identifies opportunities for new and improved multi-channel campaign integrations with existing online and offline channel activities
- Stays at the forefront of social media developments and capabilities and makes recommendations for potential implementations/tests within our market to further our social media presence
- Represents the Viking brand at industry events and expos
- Works with the internal creative team to create digital display assets and traffics them to the relevant media channels/agency contacts for deployment
- Assists with development of new website landing pages when required to support customised campaigns and contextual targeting initiatives to align with social campaign activity
- Works with the digital marketing lead (and global web team where required) to ensure accurate and timely updates to the AU website
- Works with wider marketing team on implementation of lead generation competitions including building competition landing pages, creating third party forms and sourcing permits
- Upskills wider team on how to leverage social channels and develop socially optimised content
- Uploads jobs to LinkedIn for internal recruitment initiatives
Required Skills and Experience

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Extensive experience in Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads Manager/DV360 and Google Analytics or equivalent
- Is data-driven with a talent for deriving actionable insights
- Has a good command of the English language and is able to write engaging social copy
- Has a strong eye and awareness of best-practice social content and design
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to multitask and work to multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Must enjoy a fast-paced work environment and be able to adapt quickly to business needs
- Must ownership of assigned projects from start to completion and ensures deliverables are of high quality
- Strong decision-making skills and is not afraid to take initiative
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships and work well within a team
- Attention to detail and can ensure the accuracy of work
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment and able to adapt quickly to business needs
- Self-motivated with a desire to continually learn and grow
- A demonstrated strong work ethic with a can-do attitude
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Office
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Desired skills and experience

- Minimum 4 years’ work experience in a social media/digital marketing role with demonstrated success
- Significant Facebook Blueprint module completion
- Experience with LinkedIn and Pinterest ads/marketing
- Google Ads certified, with an emphasis on display and video advertising
- Knowledge of the travel industry
- Knowledge of the cruise industry
