It looked like Rupaul’s Drag Race, it sounded like Rupaul’s Drag Race but it definitely wasn’t Rupaul’s Drag Race – it was a Delta Air Lines and Virgin Australia 4th of July party…

… and it was fierce!

The two airlines took a few tips from the brightest, funniest and sassiest reality TV series for their inaugural Independence Day celebrations last week, with Travel Agents around Australia.

Held across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on 4th of July (as expected), the pair of carriers treated consultants to a truly American affair mixed in with dra(g)matic entertainment.

The evening started with welcoming New York-themed decorations and American appetisers such as fried chicken, corn on the cob and corn dogs.

This was followed by Delta and Virgin Australia briefly welcoming Agents to the spectacular evening before treating them to a few fun airline facts such as; in 1980 Delta become the first airline to move from film to video inflight entertainment, and Virgin Australia pours some 8,792 cups of coffee per day.

It was shortly after this that the real fun began.

A trio of consultants volunteered for the inaugural Delta & Virgin Australia hotdog eating competition.

Although there were only a few major prize winners, no attendee Sashay-ed Away empty handed thanks generous goodie bags and the promise of a second 4th of July party in 2019!
