We’re not saying we’re germaphobes, post-pandemic, but we are embracing any opportunities to touch fewer things (unless it’s delicious local delicacies, of course). This is why we lurvvvvveeeee Cash Passport Platinum Mastercard and all its conveniences. Do you know what we love even more? That Cash Passport just got rid of a tonne of fees, making it one of the most effortless and affordable ways to spend dosh overseas!

Cash Passport hasn’t only slashed one fee. Nope, they’ve done away with several! The savings are real! For instance, there is no more reload fee when you use BPAY! And no $10 fee when you want to transfer funds back to a bank account via an online cash out. And the rates are the same online and in-store meaning the Cardholder wins everywhere, every time. The best bit? It’s a permanent change! Woohoo.

Remind Me Again About the Magic of the Cash Passport

Mastercard

Forget cash, safety is king now, and the Cash Passport offers that with its prepaid, reloadable, multi-currency card. It’s accepted at millions of places worldwide, as well as online. Wherever Mastercard is accepted (let’s be real, that’s pretty much anywhere), Cash Passport is too#.

Instead of carrying wads of local cash around (like in Bali, where you’re a millionaire with less than AU $100), Cash Passport users get to pre-load their travel funds onto the card. The card has 11 currency options, perfect for those big trip holidays with border crossings. Not only that, it’s possible to lock in an exchange rate^, withdraw cash from ATMs, and do absolutely everything contactless (and germ-free).

In summary:

  • Every Cash Passport can hold 11 currencies: AUD, NZD, USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, THB, HKD, SGD, JPY, and AED.
  • Use your pre-loaded funds anywhere Mastercard is accepted. That’s 37 million + places worldwide and online!
  • Shop like a local in your destination currency with no foreign transaction fees.
  • Every Cash Passport customer has access to the free 4-star-rated app to monitor spending, loading, and reloading on the go.
  • Using a Cash Passport mitigates risk – especially for those with self-control issues when saving. Simply put it on your Cash Passport card to stop accidentally spending it before you travel. Also, by loading travel funds to a separate account, your main bank account is not at risk while overseas.
  • You’ll also have access to 24/7 Cardholder support in those worst-case scenarios with a lost or stolen card overseas. Get a replacement card in destination, and access emergency funds if needed*.

Now, about those Cash Passport savings…

1000x568 On the go

Reload Fee (BPAY): Was 1%, Now FREE

We love freebies, and saving 1% on reloading additional funds is a win!

Before, every time a Cash Passport user reloaded more cash using BPAY without booking their rate, they paid 1% in fees. Now, it’s free and easy!

Card-to-Card Transfer Fee: Was $5, Now FREE

Five bucks saved on card transfer fees means more money to spend on desserts overseas. Mmm, Sachertorte in Vienna, or key lime pie in Florida? Are you with us?

Before, when a customer needed to split the bill with a mate (who also happens to have a Cash Passport), they paid $5 for the privilege. Now, they pay nada to transfer! Sweet as!

Online cash-out to bank account Fee: Was $10, Now FREE

If a Cash Passport Card holder has funds left over on their card at the end of their trip, no probs! They can save it for the next adventure OR cash it out to their bank account free of charge.

ATM Fee: No Change

Talking of ATM fees, for this area, there’s no change. For international withdrawals, the fees are fixed; for domestic, a percentage is deducted. See all fees and limits here.

Debit Card Loading

The fee formally known as a $5 Debit Card Load fee is now 0.5% of the load amount. Whenever you load or reload your card using a debit card via web or mobile, Mastercard will charge a minimal amount. This new 0.5% percentage fee is particularly great for people who want to load funds each payday and get ready for their big overseas adventure!

That’s Not All: Reduced Exchange Rates!

Getting more savings at a time when other things keep going up in price is practically unheard of for 2022. Are we dreaming? We pinched each other at Karryon HQ, and apparently not! This is real: Cash Passport Platinum Mastercard has reduced exchange rates for in-store loads. Now, both in-store and online exchange rates match! Woohoo.
