The Road to Qatar 2022: Qatar Tourism and Karryon green and gold winners

While the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in November may have got a little longer for The Socceroos last night due to a 2-0 loss against Japan, that didn't stop Qatar Tourism, Karryon and an excited group of travel industry competition winners cheering on our boys in green and gold in style at Stadium Australia.

While the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in November may have got a little longer for The Socceroos last night due to a 2-0 loss against Japan, that didn’t stop Qatar Tourism, Karryon and an excited group of travel industry competition winners cheering on our boys in green and gold in style at Stadium Australia.

There were cheers, and even a few tears at the end of the match as fifteen lucky travel industry winners from Frontier Travel, iTravel, Helloworld, Flight Centre, Jivaro Recruitment, TravelManagers, Scenic, Albatross Travel, The Inspire Collective and NCL came together to watch The Socceroos take on Japan in their crucial World Cup qualifier.

All of the winners scored their VIP spots in our recent Road to Qatar 2022 competition. The event signalled another milestone moment for in-person events as our all-star team got a long-overdue opportunity to catch up with industry friends old and new while enjoying the spectacle together.

The excited and engaging conversation flowed as hosts Richard Styles, Tourism marketing and promotion manager for Qatar Tourism and Jess Shelton-Agar, Regional sales manager from Discover Qatar along with Cassandra Saga Kerr, Regional manager of Qatar Airways, Australasia, brought us all up to speed with all that’s happening in Qatar.

After a hard-fought battle, sadly, The Socceroos ultimately went down 2-0 to the Samurai Blue, who has now qualified for the finals (Congratulations, Japan!).

The defeat means The Socceroos will finish third in the group – with Japan and Saudi Arabia advancing – and then face a cross pool playoff against either the UAE or Lebanon from group A.

If they win that they will need to beat the fifth-placed South American team.

The dream to get to Qatar is not over yet. Speaking of which… Neither is yours!
