It’s not often we mortals get to save the day for those who put their lives on the line for us day in, day out. So when you’re asked to help a fallen firefighter in his time of need, it’s only natural you jump at the chance.
And jump at the chance this Travel Agent did.
Meet Kathie Jones, the owner/manager of helloworld Ascot Vale.
She has a story that highlights the power of Travel Agents to pull certain strings with airlines to get a better deal on airfares that a customer could only hope to get by themselves.

The team at helloworld Ascot Vale have countless examples of going above and beyond for our clients, but one that will forever stay with me was the touching story of a fireman who was very badly burnt in a chemical fire.
The fireman was in an induced coma after suffering burns to 45 percent of his body and his only son was living overseas.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade contacted me requesting assistance in organising immediate travel for his son, daughter-in law and two grandchildren who were living in Oslo.
As all inbound flights were full, this meant airfares were at a premium.
It took some time but we managed to secure seats with the help of a major airline who provided us with off-shore airfares that assisted the family financially and also ensured their travel was immediate.
In the weeks that followed we found that every time a fire truck drove past our store they would toot or the fire truck siren would go off.
We asked the local fire station why and were told “it is their way of letting us know that they appreciate you and your team in assisting one of our crew.”
