1.  Delta celebrates 4th of July

Delta Air Lines recently celebrated the 4th of July with their TMC partner BCD by hosting USA themed lunches in the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne BCD offices.

The staff dressed up in red white and blue colours and enjoyed American style pizzas and hot dogs with the best dressed team members winning prizes.

 

2. ANA flies Agents to Okinawa

ANA along with the Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau and Hilton Hotels, co-hosted an exciting familiarisation trip where guests experienced the secret island paradise of Okinawa on a five-day journey.

The group experienced ANA’s Business Class cabin in the innovative 787-9 Dreamliner. ANA offers daily flights from Sydney to Tokyo (Haneda) with connections to over 40 domestic destinations across Japan, including the major airport hub, Okinawa Airport.

The group stayed at the Conrad Hilton Tokyo before travelling to Okinawa where they stayed at the picturesque Hilton Okinawa hotel. This was followed by lunch at the tranquil Double Tree by Hilton Naha Shuri Castle.

Shortly after soaking up some sunshine, the group had an interactive cooking class experience at Taste of Okinawa. Further highlights included snorkelling at Zamami Island and visiting the Zakimi-jo Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The trip concluded with a dinner at Hilton Odaiba.

3. Helloworld Travel Agents ‘head to the chapel’ on USA Famil

Ten lucky Helloworld Travel branded and associate Agents recently took off to the USA on a famil thanks to Helloworld Travel, Viva! Holidays, Air New Zealand and Las Vegas Tourism.

Kicking off their tour with two nights at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, the agents enjoyed exhilarating experiences in Papillion Helicopters and a hot lap in a Corvette Z06 thanks to Exotics Racing.

Moving onto the Wynn Las Vegas hotel, agents attended the famous but controversial show ‘Absinthe’ and wrapped up their stay in true Las Vegas style, attending a mock wedding ceremony at the Graceland Wedding chapel.

 

4. Agents flown ‘Express’ to Fiji

Excite Holidays and Fiji Airways recently treated a group of Agents from the Express Travel Group, to an authentic Fijian experience to celebrate the inaugural Fiji Airways flight from Adelaide to Nadi.

Over three days, with the help of Tourism Fiji, the group were shown all that this incredible destination has to offer. They embarked on a culinary adventure, enjoying delicious local cuisine as well as incredible sunrises and sunsets.

They even had the opportunity to take part in a SeaSpray Sailing Adventure thanks to South Sea Cruises, which they said was a trip highlight. The incredible trip gave the agents a chance to experience a true Fijian getaway, from take-off to touchdown!

 

5. Personal Travel Managers experience MS Queen Victoria firsthand

Cunard Cruise Lines recently invited TravelManagers’ personal travel managers Judy Gillings representative for Bateau Bay in New South Wales and Queensland’s Gina Passfield representative for Bloomsbury to experience two nights aboard MS Queen Victoria as she sailed from Sydney to Melbourne.

For cruise specialist Gillings it was her first time experiencing a Cunard cruise ship sailing and the traditional cruising style of MS Queen Victoria certainly lived up to all expectations.

The personal travel managers experienced an informal training session during the cruise however it was the opportunity to experience the cruise just as their clients would that proved most beneficial.

“Having the ability to experience the ship first-hand makes all the difference. Being able to talk confidently about my cruise experiences with passion and knowledge gained about personally experiencing the facilities and on-board amenities, along with sharing my own photos gives my clients absolute confidence in me,” says Passfield.

 

6. DANII Foundation Jelly Bean Ball a huge success

The annual DANII Foundation Jelly Bean Ball was held with great success recently at the Hyatt Regency in Sydney, with over $230K raised for the foundation.

Featuring the Australian Girls Choir amongst the entertainment and TV presenter Stephanie Brantzas hosting the evening, the fundraiser was a fantastic function!

Helloworld Business Travel was delighted to be involved in the event as Gold Sponsor again in 2017, supporting the foundation which is dedicated to the prevention of life threatening Dead in Bed Syndrome (DIBS) and the only organisation dedicated solely to the improvement of the safety and quality of the lives of Type 1 Diabetes sufferers.

 

7. Collette’s Kiwi GM roars reluctantly

Collette’s General Manager was not impressed when her beloved All Blacks were unable to defeat the British Lions earlier this month, because the loss meant she had to follow through with a bet to walk around in a Lions jumper ALL DAY!

The two teams played on NZ soil and despite the home advantage, the Kiwi players ended up in a tied match at 15-15.

For Alison, this was not only a devastating loss but a shocker as she had to done the competing team’s shirt for a full day.
