Brushstrokes to boarding passes: Travellers Choice agents mix training with creativity & cruising

NSW Travellers Choice members recently convened in Sydney for a comprehensive weekend of training and networking.

NSW Travellers Choice members recently convened in Sydney for a comprehensive weekend of training and networking.

However, this wasn’t just any, cookie-cutter coaching event. The three-day gathering centred on a full-day training session at The Travel Corporation’s Bondi Junction office, providing agents with interactive updates from various brands and opportunities for post-session networking.

But that was just the start… participants also engaged with Travellers Choice preferred suppliers, enjoying activities like a Pinot & Picasso session organised by Viva Holidays and Gate 7, where agents painted San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

They also took part in an onboard lunch and inspection of Celebrity Edge, the first vessel in the cruise line’s fleet to feature the innovative “Magic Carpet” – a glass platform that can float adjacent to the ship to facilitate tender embarkation and disembarkation.

Travellers Choice National Business Development Manager Paula Moylan said the weekend aimed to offer Travellers Choice members more than just a typical update on recent product developments.

“We had a real mix of consultants taking part – from new entrants to experienced agency managers – which is why we decided to create a multi-layered training event,” she stated.

“The result was a three-day program that offered every participant – no matter what stage of their career they are at – with the opportunity to enhance their professional skills.

“At the same time, the fun and interactive nature of the activities ensured that members also forged lasting connections with their colleagues and some of most valued supplier partners.”

In April, Travellers Choice welcomed luxury Sydney travel agency Luxeworld to its network. Located in Sydney’s Upper North Shore, the agency comprises a team of seven travel advisors, captained by store manager Emily Soutter.

Earlier this year, the group also welcomed independent agencies in NSW, Western Australia and Queensland to its fold.
