TravelManagers bowls over PTMs with festive fun and business insights

It’s not every day that travel professionals trade itineraries for bowling balls, but TravelManagers’ recent state meetings proved the perfect blend of business and pre-Christmas cheer. Held across Australia throughout November, these twice-yearly gatherings combined industry updates, professional development, and some good old-fashioned fun.

From Melbourne’s Pan Pacific South Wharf to social venues in Sydney, the events brought together Personal Travel Managers (PTMs), the National Partnership Office (NPO) team, and key suppliers in a spirit of collaboration – and celebration.

From business strategy to bowling strikes

Each state meeting kicked off with workshops led by the NPO team. These sessions gave PTMs the chance to sharpen their skills and gain fresh perspectives from peers.

For Sarah Knoll, a Mount Evelyn, VIC-based PTM who attended the Melbourne meeting, the collaborative environment was a standout.

“I particularly enjoyed being able to workshop with other PTMs,” Knoll shared.

“There is so much knowledge and experience in the room at these events, and I think such opportunities – hearing about each other’s business practices and gaining new tips – are invaluable.”

This sentiment seemed to echo across all events. Whether discussing innovative travel solutions or sharing best practices, the meetings underscored TravelManagers’ commitment to professional growth.

Networking (and mini golf) in full swing

But these weren’t your average buttoned-up industry meetings. After diving into the latest updates, attendees were treated to lively social activities. In Melbourne, it was mini golf and lunch at the quirky Holey Moley at Crown, where competitive streaks emerged among the group. Brisbane attendees had their turn on the bowling lanes, while each state added its local twist to the festivities.

Beyond the games and giggles, these activities created a relaxed setting for PTMs to connect with colleagues and suppliers alike. Building relationships is a cornerstone of TravelManagers’ ethos, and what better way to bond than over a shared laugh (or an impressively bad mini-golf shot)?

Trust and support at TravelManagers’ core

While the festive atmosphere shone, the meetings also highlighted the robust infrastructure supporting TravelManagers’ network. As a wholly owned subsidiary of House of Travel, TravelManagers ensures every dollar of customer money is secure in a dedicated Client Trust Account. This level of transparency and security is a key differentiator, instilling confidence in both PTMs and their clients.

For suppliers attending the events, the gatherings were a chance to reinforce these values while showcasing new products and services to an engaged audience of travel experts.

Looking back at 2024, looking ahead to 2025

As the industry hurtles towards peak holiday travel season, the timing of these state meetings couldn’t have been better. With actionable takeaways, strengthened networks, and a dose of festive fun, PTMs are well-equipped to tackle the year’s end and beyond.
