Travel Agents accepted a dare to explore the Top End in a very intricate and unique way, during Tourism NT’s inaugural Darwin Amazing Race Experience (D.A.R.E).
A group of 50 consultants from Australia and New Zealand were seen running around the city earlier this month solving challenges, cues, puzzles and riddles, while also getting to know the culturally rich destination.
As part of the D.A.R.E, Agents were split into five teams of 10 (each team named after famous Territory explorers) and given a rundown on requirements to win the ‘amazing race challenge’.
Throughout the game consultants were exposed to Darwin’s rich history, adventurous attitude and authentic culture, as they sped through Crocosuarus Cove, enjoying green ant mousse as a part of the blind folded bush tucker tasting and cooled off at the Big Buoy Waterpark.
Tourism NT’s Gabrielle Deacon said D.A.R.E was carefully organised to maximise value for Agents and provide them with first-hand knowledge that they could later pass on to their clients.
“It was a carefully balanced program that provided an incredible insight into Darwin’s history, as well as showcase of what Darwin has to offer as a contemporary and thriving tourism destination.”

“We’ve had really positive feedback from the agents, all saying that it was a unique, fun and educational way to experience a destination.”
