Chimu Adventures has announced the sudden passing of long-time colleague and friend, Jason Dudson, describing it as one of the company’s most difficult moments.

Dudson, affectionately known among the Chimu team as “Super Jase”, worked at the adventure travel company for 11 years.

In a statement, Chimu said Dudson was not only a destination expert but also the “cornerstone” of its Sydney office.

It also paid tribute to Jason’s deep knowledge, humour and commitment to his family, saying that his passing “leaves a void that cannot be filled”.

Dudson played a pivotal role across Chimu’s operations over the years. During the pandemic, his commitment was central to the company’s repatriation flights, helping Australians and others return home.

He later helped deliver scenic flights when international borders were closed, and was instrumental in Chimu’s recovery as travel resumed.

Beyond his professional contribution, colleagues remember Dudson for his love of music, particularly Pearl Jam, and the joy he found in sharing stories and memories of his family.

As a devoted partner and father, Dudson’s children were described as his greatest pride. A GoFundMe page has been created to support his family during this difficult time.

Chimu advises that it will close its Sydney office on Tuesday, 26 August, to allow staff to attend Dudson’s memorial service. The service will take place at 1:30pm at Hillside Chapel, Palmdale Road, Palmdale, and those who wish to attend are welcome.
