KARRYON recently travelled to Fiji and stayed at the alluring Westin Denarau where the facilities sparkle and the surroundings instantly ground you.
Arriving in Nadi, it’s only a speedy 25-minute transfer from the airport to the foyer at The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa Fiji.

The Westin lobby
As the transfer vehicle stops, the porter opens your door with a smile and “BULA Welcome Home Sir”. What a greeting.
My luggage is set aside while I’m escorted to the check-in counter and asked to choose between a glass of champagne or local Fiji beer.
I wanted both, so I did.
The room wasn’t quite ready for me (it was only 1.00pm), so I decided to get a bite to eat by the pool and have a swim.
ROOM TYPE & TOILETRIES
‘Spacious’ was the first thing that came to mind upon entering the ground floor room with views of the ocean. I immediately opened the sliding doors to find an outdoor table and chair to sit back, relax and take in the sights along with a live game of volley ball played by hotel guests.
The room comes with two queen-size beds, big TV, bar fridge and plenty of toiletries. There is also a desk to plug in the laptop and plenty of room to hang up your clothes.
THE BED
There is something special about the beds at The Westin. Some might say it’s the crisp white duvet, personally, I think it’s the pillows and the heavenly mattress.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
You are spoiled for choice at The Westin with 14 dining venues plus you can arrange for the private dining experience – ON THE BEACH. My favourite was the Kitchen Grill open from 11am-10pm. The location makes this beachfront venue an easy choice.
Other choices include the Ocean Terrace for breakfast and Zing for dinner only. CocoPalms is popular and only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays so make sure to book. The Westin Bakery is on-site and serves wraps, pastries and coffee all day.
THE VERDICT
There is so much to do at the resort and who knew there was also a lap pool plus the Heavenly Spa?
The kindness shown by the resort staff is outstanding, they really do go over and above to ensure your holiday is one to remember.
