Visiting California’s National Parks is one of the best ways to take in the immense natural beauty of the golden state.

So why not embrace the great outdoors and hike, photograph, climb and raft your way through some of the most epic natural environments in the world.

Here’s 4 of the best to add to your bucket list when visiting California.

4. DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Hailed as the “hottest, driest, and lowest National Park”, Death Valley is a land of extremes. This place has to be seen to be believed.

Take for example The Devil’s Golf Course, a giant area of rock salt eroded by wind and rain into jagged spires. Experience The Badwater Basin AKA The lowest point in North America and the Artists Drive, a loop drive through multi-coloured volcanic hills.

3. YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

The stunning Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls and granite cliffs. One of its most famous features is the El Capitan rock face, the largest piece of granite in the world.

On a visit to the park, you can explore 20 waterfalls, including the breathtaking 2,425 foot Yosemite Falls. Yosemite is the perfect playground for hiking, rafting, fishing, wildlife watching and rock climbing.

2. SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS

These tandem set of parks are home to super-sized sequoias. Nothing makes you reflect on the enormity of the natural environment around you like looking up at these giant trees. The park is also home to Kings River Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in North America.

1. PINNACLES NATIONAL PARK

The truly unique landscape in the Pinnacles National Park is the result of multiple volcanoes erupting millions of years ago.

The towering, jagged rocks seem almost otherworldly and are popular with hikers, climbers and photographers. There is also a  large natural cave that can be explored.
