With exciting events on the calendar and a host of unmissable deals on offer, there has never been a better time than 2020 to discover the natural beauty and untamed wildness of the Kimberley.
Travelling to the Kimberley is an unforgettable adventure, providing travellers with endless blue skies, vibrant red landscapes and an overwhelming sense of freedom.
A trip to the Kimberley turns each and every person into an explorer; allowing them to reconnect with nature and remember what life is really about.
With over 45 years of experience operating in the Kimberley region, APT is the most awarded Outback tour and cruise operator in Australia, and has dubbed 2020 as ‘the Year of the Kimberley’.
Book selected Kimberley Wilderness Adventures departing in 2020 and Fly Free, including air taxes of up to $200 per person.
Clients will also receive a pre or post tour night stay at the Cable Beach Club or Kununurra Country Club Resort.
Leaders in Indigenous Tourism
In 2019, APT signed two new leases at the Bell Gorge and Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodges; properties set on Indigenous-owned land.
The 20-year leases are the longest of their kind in the region, securing the future of APT’s lodges.
The agreement benefits both the Indigenous communities and APT guests who are lucky enough to travel to this spectacular region.
This is a testament to the people involved and the leadership that is demonstrated by APT in working with remote Outback Communities.
Mermaid Boab Tree Bicentenary Celebrations
2020 marks 200 years since the carpenter aboard Philip Parker King’s HMC Mermaid carved the ship’s name into the bark of a boab tree.
Today, it is one of the Kimberley Coast’s most important historical symbols and is one of many highlights on APT’s 10-day Grand Kimberley Coast cruise.
“We are so excited to be celebrating 200 years of this iconic Kimberley landmark and hope you can join us in 2020 to see the Mermaid Boab Tree for yourself,”
Angus Tandy, Head of APT Kimberley & Outback Wilderness Adventures
Kununurra: Gateway to the East Kimberley
As the gateway to many of the region’s wonders including the Bungle Bungle Range and El Questro, Kununurra is the perfect base to start or end an APT Kimberley cruise.
Brand new in 2020, Virgin Australia will operate scheduled flights between Melbourne and Kununurra, three times a week.
Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge Upgrade
With a major redevelopment underway for 2020, APT’s exclusive Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge is raising the bar for accommodation in the Kimberley.
Located just off the Gibb River Road, the lodge will feature a new open-air dining area, lounge, and bar.
Brand new tented cabins are another exciting addition, complete with enhanced front decks, interior-designed en suites and a brand-new layout overlooking the King Leopold Ranges.
The project is due for completion in time for the first tour departure at the end of April in 2020 and will be the most luxurious of its kind in the Kimberley.
