High five: New travel agency members complete ATIA Accreditation

The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has announced the addition of five travel agency members to its accreditation scheme.

The new entrants to the program include Helloworld Travel Ascot Vale, Helloworld Travel Highton, Let’s Travel Jindabyne, Snowsea Cruises and Travellers Lounge. 

In the same period, accreditation was revoked for one agency, while three others voluntarily withdrew. 

Currently, 19 accredited members are under monitoring agreements, requiring regular financial and operational disclosures.

In its November and December 2024 update, ATIA says that the high standards required to achieve accreditation reinforce the association’s status as the industry benchmark for trust and excellence among consumers. 

It adds that its rigorous process ensures only top-performing travel agency members meet ATIA’s stringent criteria, with 25 per cent of applicants being rejected.

ATIA recently released its new Benchmarking Reports for travel agency members.

At present, ATIA represents over 1,120 accredited travel businesses and 28,000 employees, supporting nearly 17 million Australian travellers annually. With 92% of members being small businesses and 72% of the workforce being women, ATIA oversees $31 billion in bookings yearly, including air, cruise and land operations.

In October 2024, ATIA unveiled its new travel industry master plan, including the termination of the ATAS brand, a new compensation scheme and a fresh talent drive, among other initiatives.
