The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has launched an emotive campaign that sends a message to the community in these uncertain times to stay safe, stay home but stay curious.

The video-driven campaign features on The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi’s social media channels and says that while the world is quiet right now, this is not a time for sadness, it’s a time for reflection.

While showcasing Abu Dhabi’s many beautiful charms, the video continues on with the positive sentiment that soon “the footsteps of all nationalities will echo through the streets, they will fill the cities, from the mountain peaks to the furthest reaches of the golden dunes – the world will soon return and Abu Dhabi will be waiting with open arms.

But in the meantime, we all should stay home. Good advice we say.

As we feel ripples of silence echo throughout our emirate’s parks, museums, beaches and roads, we know that we will continue to look out for one another, and that together we'll get through this. We'll be waiting for you #InAbuDhabi. Till we meet again, #StayHome, #StaySafe but #StayCurious.

The campaign with a responsible message aims to encourage travellers across the globe to take time to contemplate as the coronavirus pandemic forces people to close businesses and spend more time indoors.

Currently, Abu Dhabi has just begun a two-week lockdown which started on April 5 to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to the lockdown, the UAE had advised all citizens to restrict themselves to essential travel only and had implemented a curfew between 8pm and 6am every day.

In a bid to combat further health issues once the world begins flying again, Etihad today announced news of a world first, partnering with Australian company Elenium Automation to trial new tech which allows self-service devices at airports to be used to help identify travellers with medical conditions, potentially including the early stages of COVID-19.

The United Arab Emirate (U.A.E) National carrier also recently announced that it will be operating a number of outbound flights (that began on April 5) to help foreign citizens return home from Abu Dhabi.

Repatriation flights started with Seoul Incheon, followed by destinations such as Melbourne, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta and Amsterdam. All other flights to, from and via Abu Dhabi have been temporarily suspended.

Here’s hoping, like every destination around the world, that we get through this and get to visit again soon. In the meantime, we’ll most definitely be staying curious.
