Fiji favourite Plantation Island Resort is about to get even better. The beloved Aussie holiday spot has just announced a major upgrade to its central facilities, set to roll out from April 2025 and be completed by late 2026.

The enhancements include new restaurants, spa experiences and even a fresh lagoon-style pool.

According to Raffe Hotels & Resorts, which owns the property, the expansion has been designed to dial up the guest experience while keeping the island charm visitors know and love.

“The upcoming central facilities addition is a testament to our commitment to continually enhance the Plantation Island Resort experience,” Raffe Hotels & Resorts CEO Lee Pearce said.

“This development strikes the perfect balance between modern amenities and the authentic Fijian spirit that our guests cherish, making it a destination where every moment feels special.”

Among its dining upgrades, Plantation Island will welcome Baravi Mediterranean Kitchen – a new restaurant built around a woodfire pizza oven, a refreshed and relocated Brigham Bar, and a reinvented Copra Restaurant, which will transform into a buffet spot showcasing Fijian flavours.

Wellness is also getting a boost with the opening of the new Senibua Spa, featuring six treatment rooms and a treatment menu curated by Senikai Spas.

Meanwhile, families will be happy to hear there’s a new pool on the way – complete with a toddler zone and waterslide for the little ones.

In response to demand, the resort is also adding six new Beachfront Bures and three new Two-Bedroom Garden Bures, all featuring separate bedrooms, lounge areas and modern comforts. The beachfront options will even boast outdoor showers and patios with lagoon views, ready by mid-2025.

A collaboration between Australian designers Aspect APM and local architects Architects Pacific Ltd, the design of the three new dining venues aims for a modern take on traditional Fijian arts and crafts, using natural materials, earthy tones and local textures.

The upgrades follow on from recent changes including the opening of the Tavola precinct, featuring 40 new beachfront rooms, a fresh dining lineup (hello, poke bowls at Bowl) and the Jungle Water Park, which opened in 2024 with slides, trampolines and Tarzan swing.

“With these upgrades, we’re ensuring that guests continue to experience world-class hospitality in a setting that reflects our rich cultural heritage and evolving needs,” Plantation Island Resort General Manager Rodney Samuels said.

“For many travellers, Plantation Island Resort is like a second home. So, with that in mind, each enhancement is designed with care to reflect the vibrant cultural heritage of Fiji, in a truly authentic setting, that we hope will appeal to both new visitors and the many generations of return guests we look forward to hosting each year.”

While construction runs through late 2026, the resort says guest areas will remain open and uninterrupted, with water sports and day tour departures temporarily moving to the area between Tavola and Copra Restaurants.

“As the central facilities addition development begins, Plantation Island Resort will continue to offer even more unforgettable experiences for our guests,” Pearce added.

“The upcoming enhancements will further elevate the guest experience, whether for those seeking relaxation, exploration, or reconnection, all while preserving our signature warmth and charm.”
