Hello Hobart! Hilton opens first-ever hotel in Tasmania with DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart

DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart has opened its doors, marking the hospitality group’s debut in Tasmania with a new 206-key CBD property geared for both leisure and business travellers – plus those famous choc-chip cookies on arrival.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart offers views of Kunanyi/Mount Wellington and Derwent River and access to Hobart’s cultural and tourist attractions, such as Salamanca Place, Constitution Dock and historic sites.

The new-build hotel has seven room categories, offering up to 33sqm in its 80 deluxe rooms. All rooms contain floor-to-ceiling windows, a rain shower, a 50-inch TV, a Bluetooth speaker and a work desk.

The onsite Leatherwood Restaurant provides all-day dining that highlights local and seasonal produce and other hotel amenities include a heated indoor pool, sauna, fitness centre and two meeting spaces.

Hilton Area Vice President & Head of Australasia Paul Hutton said: “DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart will bring a uniquely Tasmanian flavour to the long-standing international hotel brand through our team of locals, sweeping views of Hobart’s unique cityscape, and Tasmanian food and beverage.”

Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the development was an exciting milestone for the state.

“We know Tasmania has what the world wants and it is a testament to our exceptional destination offering that a brand as reputable as Hilton has launched here in Hobart,” he said.

“Adding more than 200 premium hotel rooms to the state’s landscape will support our tourism and hospitality sector and help keep our economy strong.”

Hilton announced it will open Australia’s first Tapestry Collection by Hilton location in Melbourne later this year.
