Game on: AFL’s Saints sign Fiji partnership with travel perks for fans

Australian travellers could soon see more reasons to book a Fiji getaway thanks to a new three-year partnership between St Kilda Football Club and the Fijian Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Australian travellers could soon see more reasons to book a Fiji getaway thanks to a new three-year partnership between St Kilda Football Club and the Fijian Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.

The agreement will see Tourism Fiji’s branding rolled out across AFL and AFLW matches, as well as club events and digital platforms, putting the destination in front of a huge sports-loving audience. Saints fans can also expect exclusive travel deals and tailored experiences connected to the islands.

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, said the move highlights Fiji’s appeal as a visitor destination while supporting the country’s growing passion for Australian Rules Football.

“This partnership goes beyond sport – it is about fostering connections, creating opportunities for our youth, and showcasing Fiji’s warmth, talent and culture on a global stage,” Minister Gavoka stated.

“We see this as an exciting platform to inspire young Fijians, support our communities, and strengthen people-to-people ties between Fiji and Australia. At the same time, it offers a powerful avenue to promote Fiji as a joyful, authentic destination to the passionate AFL community.”

Although no AFL fixtures are planned for Fiji yet, St Kilda will run community programs and activations on the islands. The club has also launched a free Fiji Saints Membership, giving locals access to content, events and clinics.

“This groundbreaking deal opens the door to a wide range of initiatives, both commercially and in the community,” St Kilda CEO Carl Dilena said.

“From player camps and talent identification to tourism activations, we’re approaching this partnership with great ambition and an open mind.

“We’ll also incorporate Fiji into our STK Business program from 2026, creating opportunities for partners to connect and unlock new trade and tourism pathways.

“Fiji is a vibrant hub of Pacific trade and tourism – a place where happiness comes naturally. By bringing our game and club to communities across the country, we aim to give back through clinics, education and wellbeing programs that inspire young Fijians to thrive.”

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said the deal would help boost the sport’s profile overseas.

“St Kilda and their partnership with Fiji will help take our game to more people,” Dillon said.

“In conjunction with our local team on the ground, the Saints will partner in clinics, talent programs and community engagement which is an important part of having people connect with footy on some level.”
