AFTA extends accreditation to educators

AFTA is extending its accreditation arm beyond ATAS and beyond travel agents and straight to those that educate the next generation of travel industry professionals.

What does this mean?

It means, travel training providers such as TAFE or Universities or private RTOs can now apply and pay over $1,080 to get an AFTA tick of approval.

According to AFTA Education and Training, receiving AFTA accreditation will make it easier for potential students to recognise ‘our nations best travel training providers’.

AFTA expects it will help trainers and teachers stay up-to-date with latest industry knowledge and developments plus improve graduates preparedness for industry workforce requirements.

The ‘AFTA Training Provider Accreditation’ comes in two tiers: a standard costing around $720 plus GST; or Premium from $1,080 plus GST.

Providers who select the ‘Standard’ tier will receive permission to use the ‘Accredited Training Provider’ logo; inclusion in RTO listing in AFTA E&T website with photo and web link; issuance of industry validation certificate; complimentary monthly AFTA@WORK e-newsletter; inclusion in the AFTA yearbook; and industry updates.

The Premium option comes with all of the above plus a complimentary invitation to industry engagement sessions; a special feature area for RTO with lecturers’ data; a 10 percent discount on AFTA ATEP industry modules for travel and tourism; potential student referral; issuance of certificates with AFTA Accredited Training Provider logo for each student; and a 10 percent discount on the entrance fee to Industry Leaders & Educators Engagement Symposium.

Rick Myatt, Director of AFTA Education and Training said the accreditation comes from the necessity for graduates to be trained by providers that are ‘highly committed to quality in training and pledge to continuing to align to our industry workforce needs’.

“We believe AFTA Training Provider Accreditation will not only act as a seal of approval and a useful benchmark for learners, career seekers, training providers, but a point of reference for  industry enterprises and recruiters seeking graduates who have gone through the best training outcome.”
