Air New Zealand takes off with alcohol-free gin during Dry July

Following through with the promise of avoiding alcohol during the entire month of July aka Dry July will be a lot easier for those travelling with Air New Zealand.

Following through with the promise of avoiding alcohol during the entire month of July aka Dry July will be a lot easier for those travelling with Air New Zealand.

The Kiwi carrier revealed plans this week to introduce a new range of inflight cocktails made with artisan distilled, alcohol-free gin.

So while they look like they may give you a buzz and they may taste as though they’ll come with a punch, they’re actually entirely perfect for sober flyers.

The alcohol-free cocktails – Asian Spice and London Dry – created by boutique Kiwi distillery Ecology & Co will be available to order on flights between Auckland and San Francisco throughout July. However, they’re only available to Business Premier customers – sorry Economy.

The alcohol-free spirit will also be available with soda and ice for those wanting a zero-sugar beverage.

Air New Zealand’s Senior Manager Customer Experience, Niki Chave, said the alternative beverage was inspired by customer feedback, which found some 11 percent of customers don’t drink alcohol and 1/10th enjoy spirits but would never drink them in the air.

“Like Ecology & Co, we want to give customers fresh flavours so we’re very excited to be able to add its Asian Spice and London Dry distilled spirits to our cocktail selection.”
