Air Vanuatu reveals ‘optimal’ new schedule for Qld flights

Making it easier for travellers to connect to onward flights, Air Vanuatu has announced updates to its schedule and capacity increases for flights from Australia and New Zealand.

Making it easier for travellers to connect to onward flights, Air Vanuatu has announced updates to its schedule and capacity increases for flights from Australia and New Zealand.

Commencing 2 November 2023, Air Vanuatu’s Brisbane-Port Vila service will now depart at 1pm on Tuesday and 10.30am on Thursday and Saturday.

The return VLI-BNE service will depart on Monday at 4.45pm, Friday at 2.20pm and Sunday at 9am.

With the new schedule, Vanuatu’s national carrier aims to offer more convenient connections to and from the Queensland city.

Also starting on 2 November, Air Vanuatu will add a fourth weekly service to its Auckland-Port Vila schedule.

The extra service will depart VLI on Thursday at 3.15pm and return on Friday at 12pm.

Operated by Solomon Airlines for Air Vanuatu, the new flight boosts capacity between Vanuatu and New Zealand by 300 seats per week.

In total, the carrier will now offer 1,280 seats per week or 66,560 seats per year on the route, in a major boost to tourism to the country since it reopened.

Air Vanuatu acting CEO Joseph Laloyer said he is confident Queenslanders will embrace the new BNE schedule.

“Previously, connection timings to and from Brisbane to Port Vila have seen travellers arrive late in the evening in both cities, meaning onward connections can only be taken the following day,” he remarked.

“Now, passengers can enjoy earlier arrival timings that align well with domestic flights.

“We are dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible service we can, which includes the onboard experience as well as aspects like connectivity and optimal arrival and departure times.

“This new schedule is a testament to this, and we look forward to debuting it in November.”

In June, Air Vanuatu recommenced once-weekly, non-stop Brisbane-Luganville flights. Read our wrap from the launch of the service.
