Air New Zealand drops trans-Tasman sale with one-way fares from just $265 for 85th year

Air New Zealand celebrates 85 years of flying in May 2025 with a trans-Tasman birthday sale with one-way fares starting from $265 until 9 May 2025 for select travel periods. Alongside the sale, the NZ carrier looks back on the iconic moments and the milestones that have shaped it and the aviation industry.

Sale one-way fares from $265 include Sydney–Auckland, Sydney–Christchurch, Sydney–Wellington, Melbourne–Auckland, Melbourne–Wellington, Brisbane–Auckland, Brisbane–Christchurch, Brisbane–Wellington, Gold Coast–Auckland and Gold Coast–Christchurch.

Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran said the Kiwi carrier has a proud history connecting the country and the world.

Air New Zealand’s world-first retrofitted Dreamliner aircraft will take to the sky this month and the carrier also recently revealed a new crew wardrobe designed by Emilia Wickstead.

Other surprising firsts include being the first airline to boil water at 30,000 feet in 1950, the first commercial airline to carry a reigning British monarch (the Queen in 1995) and the introduction of the innovative SkyCouch in 2011.
