Air New Zealand has announced the seasonal suspension of its Gold Coast–Christchurch service, which connects the Queensland hotspot to the South Island city, from November 2025 to March 2026 due to several operational factors.
The NZ flag carrier conveyed that the move to pause the direct Gold Coast–Christchurch service for five months was a difficult decision and reflected ongoing demand and market conditions along with fleet constraints.
In a note to travel advisors, Air New Zealand said the suspension will only affect a small number of customers with bookings.
“We need to make careful decisions about where we operate over the period. We remain committed to providing reliable services across our network,” the statement said.

“Changes will be reflected in your GDS over the coming weeks and any agents with affected customers should refer to our schedule change policy or contact Agency Sales Support for assistance.”
Air New Zealand will operate the daily nonstop Gold Coast–Christchurch until October 2025.

The OOL–CHC route is part of the current trans-Tasman birthday sale until 9 May 2025 to mark the carrier’s 85th anniversary.
In other news, Air New Zealand’s first fully retrofitted Dreamliner will make its international debut on 19 May between Auckland and Brisbane.
