Air New Zealand’s direct flights between Hobart and Auckland are back. Starting on 27 October, the resumed seasonal service will run three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays – on A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
Flight NZ195 departs AKL at 9am and arrives in HBA at 10.55am. NZ198 then leaves HBA at 12.20pm for a 5.50pm touchdown in AKL.
Reconnecting Auckland and Tasmania’s capital for the summer, the service marks the return of international passenger flights to Tasmania.

Air New Zealand General Manager International Jeremy O’Brien says the airline is excited to return to Tassie, bringing Kiwi and Tasmanian travellers together once again.
“With more than 600 seats available to Tassie each week, there are plenty of options for a summer escape to Tasmania,” he remarked.

“Customers flying across the ditch will have the added benefit of our refreshed Seats to Suit options, offering greater choice and affordable flexibility.
“Start your trans-Tasman getaway with full inflight entertainment, along with a snack or meal, depending on your fare selection.”
Air New Zealand hopes the new trans-Tasman service will help boost two-way tourism between the island state and NZ as well as promote new explorations. Indeed, from MONA and Salamanca Market to the 19th-century streets of Battery Point, Tasmania does show a different side to Australia.

“It’s great to be starting our seasonal services again, connecting Kiwi to the charming city of Hobart and Aussies to our biggest city, with domestic connections to 19 other destinations around Aotearoa,” O’Brien added.
“Hobart is our ninth Australian destination and it’s great to once again be offering our customers the option to travel there for another season over the warmer months.”
In August, Air New Zealand reported earnings before tax of $222 million (around AU$205 million) for FY24.
