Airline offers 99% off fares to Australia’s fastest-growing destination

Vietnam is about to feel a whole lot closer for Australians, with Vietjet launching a mega ‘9/9’ sale that slashes fares by up to 99 per cent.

Vietnam is about to feel a whole lot closer for Australians, with Vietjet launching a mega ‘9/9’ sale that slashes fares by up to 99 per cent.

The budget airline’s promotion covers services from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to Ho Chi Minh City, offering travellers serious savings plus a free 20kg checked bag allowance on select dates.

Travellers keen to bag a bargain will need to move fast though as the deal runs for just one day, kicking off at 3am AEST on 9 September and wrapping up at 2am the next morning. Enter the promo code SUPERSALE99 when booking through Vietjet’s website or mobile app to unlock the discounts on the low-cost carrier’s Eco fares.

The deal applies across the airline’s international network, with travel valid between 1 October 2025 and 27 May 2026.

Adding more value, customers flying Australia–Vietnam between 20 October and 20 November will automatically receive the complimentary baggage perk. That bonus also extends to several other Vietjet international routes.

Beyond the discounts, Vietjet is also expanding its Australian schedule to meet growing demand. 

Last month, the airline announced it will up services to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh City later this year. Melbourne flights will rise to six per week from 11 November and daily from 6 December. Sydney follows with six services from 13 November and daily from 7 December, while Brisbane flights will climb to five weekly from 6 December, giving Australians even more options to reach Vietnam.

However, it hasn’t all been positive news for the carrier, with Vietjet recently announcing the suspension of its Sydney-Hanoi and Melbourne-Hanoi flights be early October 2025, just over a year after the airline commenced both routes.

From Ho Chi Minh City, travellers can connect onwards to Vietjet’s extensive domestic network, as well as popular Asian hubs.

For something extra festive, the airline will also mark the mid-[northern] Autumn season with themed flights, complete with lanterns, performances, and small gifts, bringing a slice of Vietnamese culture on board.

Vietnam is now Australia’s fastest-growing overseas destination, with travel to the Southeast Asian nation rising by nearly 30% in the year to June 2025, recent Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data shows.

According to ABS stats, Vietnam saw a whopping 27.5% increase in Aussie short-term visits during the period, the highest growth rate for any country.

Booking platform Klook also recently revealed that between March and June 2025, hotel bookings in Vietnam grew by 250 per cent and activities rose by at least 170 per cent.
