An airline most Aussies haven't heard of is now flying 17 times between Australia and Bali

Just nine months after launching as a three-times-weekly service connecting Western Australia and Bali, Indonesia-based airline TransNusa will increase its nonstop Perth-Denpasar service to 17 flights per week.

Just nine months after launching as a three-times-weekly service connecting Western Australia and Bali, Indonesia-based airline TransNusa will increase its nonstop Perth-Denpasar service to 17 flights per week.

A name few Australians on the east coast would be familiar with, TransNusa entered the Aussie market in March this year, operating flights on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The Jakarta-based carrier then grew flights to four times per week oin April, before moving to a daily service from 1 June. Shortly afterwards, the airline announced it would double its service to a twice-daily operation in July.

Such is the demand for travel to Bali, TransNusa has this week announced it will add an extra three flights per week to its WA schedule, bringing its total Perth-Bali service to 17 flights per week.

“This is a legacy moment for TransNusa as we have grown the Perth-Bali route to operate 17 scheduled flights weekly in less than eight months of operating the route, showcasing our strength, confidence and knowledge,” TransNusa Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis said, adding that the expansion aligned with TransNusa’s international ambitions.

“By increasing the scheduled flight frequency for the Perth-Bali route, TransNusa now offers passengers the most connectivity options between Western Australia and Indonesia, China as well as Singapore.”

Sales for the new scheduled flights began on 23 October.

Earlier this year, Mr Francis referred to the Perth-Bali route as a “golden route”, which accounted for the highest number of international visitors to the Indonesian island.

In April, the airline also announced a significant shift, rebranding as a premium service carrier. Read more about that transition here.

Indonesia, thanks mostly to Bali, is the number one overseas destination among Australian travellers. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data, in the year ending June 2025, Australians made more than 1.7 million short-term trips to the Asian nation. Nearly nine in ten visit were holidays.
