Malaysia Airlines has resumed daily flights to the Maldives, bringing the Indian Ocean islands within easier reach of Australians looking to enjoy its beautiful white sand beaches.

While AirAsia will still offer the cheapest way for Australians to travel to the Maldives (also via Kuala Lumpur) Malaysia brings full-service flights and likely competitive fares to the route, giving Aussies considering a Maldives holiday yet another choice for flying to the island nation.

To mark the launch, Malaysia Airlines is offering special discounts from Australia to the Maldives with all-in return economy fares starting at just AU$869 (ex-Perth) and $969 (ex-Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide). Business fares start from $4,919 (ex-PER) and $5,469 (ex-SYD, MEL and ADL).

Fares are available until 31 August and valid for travel until 30 March 2025.

With its last flights to Male seven years ago, Malaysia Airlines’ new daily service will depart Kuala Lumpur at 10.10am and arrive at Velana International Airport at 11:25am local time. At four hours and 15 minutes, return flights depart Male at 12.30pm.

MH will utilise its B737-800 jets on the route, its 13th destination in South Asia.

“We are thrilled to be flying back to Maldives, which enhances our strategic vision of connecting travellers to some of the world’s most captivating destinations,” said Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, CEO of MAG, Malaysia Airlines’ parent company.
