After recommencing direct flights to Seoul from Melbourne Airport in December, South Korea’s Asiana Airlines will double its Airbus A350 services to four times weekly when it restarts seasonal services in July-October 2024.

The current twice-weekly seasonal Melbourne-Seoul service winds up in February 2024 however Asiana Airlines confirmed its seasonal flights will double to four per week when it resumes on 2 July – 2 September 2024.

Post-pandemic, Asiana was the first airline to directly link Melbourne to the South Korean capital when it commenced operations in December.

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said the announcement comes after strong demand over the Christmas and New Year period with average load factors of 96 per cent for arrivals in January.

“This is a big commitment and sign of faith from Asiana in the Melbourne market and will hopefully pave the way for year-round services in the future,” he said.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, leaving Melbourne at 11:10pm and touching down in Seoul at 9:15am the following day.
