Ever wondered which overseas flights offer the most value for flyers? Money.com.au looked at the 10 most popular international routes from Australia and ranked flights by the average cost per minute to find out which trips are the most cost-effective.
With Australians taking more than 10 million international trips every year, Money.com.au says travellers are looking at how to get the best value from their flights, comparing the total cost with the journey time.
Western Australians are the big winners here with the Perth-Singapore international flight providing the best value for money with an average cost per minute of just $1.41.
Melbourne-Singapore flights also offer a sky-high bargain at an average cost per minute of $1.78 for a long-haul flight (over six hours), while the average price of the Sydney-Singapore service is $2.10 per minute.
However, Queenslanders face the highest cost per minute for an international flight to the same destination with Brisbane-Singapore flights coming in at $3.18.
For Aussies heading to Bali, the Perth-Denpasar route is the cheapest option, thanks to Jetstar expanding its services, averaging $1.96 per minute, while Sydneysiders are looking at an average of $2.89 per minute for the same international flight.
For those heading across the ditch, Melbourne-Auckland flights are the cheapest at an average of $2.31 per minute, while Sydney-Auckland clocks in around $2.74 per minute.
Also on the list? In good news for those heading to Europe, Sydney to Dubai flights are an average cost of $2.31 per minute.
