Lifting capacity to South Australia’s most popular overseas destination, Indonesia AirAsia has announced it will operate daily flights between Adelaide and Denpasar from 22 March 2026. During peak periods, it will increase the service to 10 flights per week.
According to the carrier, the move follows strong demand since AirAsia launched its Adelaide flights in June last year with a four-times-weekly service.
Adding more than 56,000 annual seats through Adelaide Airport, the new flights will operate using the airline’s 180-seater, A320-200 aircraft.
Adelaide Airport says Bali remains its largest and fastest-growing international market overall.
“This service increase makes it easier for South Australians to travel to Bali, and to connect to Indonesia AirAsia’s formidable network throughout Southeast Asia and beyond including from Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Korea, Japan and India,” Adelaide Airport Executive General Manager, Corporate and General Counsel, Alicia Bickmore, said.

“The connections via Bali are excellent and it is very cost effective to continue on to other destinations such as Jakarta, Bangkok, Phuket and even Komodo Island.
“It also makes it easier for our strong Asian market to discover South Australia via a one-stop connection through Denpasar.
“Development of affordable travel is vital to the growth of our market and to achieving our ambitious network targets.”

Indonesia AirAsia Acting President Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman said the move highlighted the carrier’s ambition and commitment to the SA market.
“Increasing our Adelaide to Bali services to daily flights, and 10 per week during peak periods, reflects our strong commitment to the Australian market and to Adelaide as a key gateway onto the AirAsia network,” he remarked.
“This added capacity provides more choice, better value and greater flexibility for South Australians looking to holiday in Bali or connect onwards through our extensive network or more than 130 destinations.”
Adelaide ascending

Adelaide Airport experienced a growth spurt in 2025, with international passenger arrivals growing by more than 20 per cent over 2024 to 1.17 million. New international routes launched last year from the SA gateway include the first nonstop US flights and Air New Zealand’s Christchurch service. And more new services are just around the corner, like China Eastern Airlines’ Adelaide-Shanghai route coming in mid-2026.
Indonesia AirAsia’s Aussie footprint is growing too, with a new daily service from Melbourne Avalon to Denpasar starting on 20 March 2026. However, the carrier suspended flights between Bali and Cairns last year.
KARRYON UNPACKS: Daily Bali flights bring real gains for Adelaide travellers and travel advisors, adding schedule choice, sharper fares and easier Asia connections, just as Bali demand from South Australia continues to climb.
