This airline doubles down on Bali demand with new Aussie services

Garuda Indonesia will expand its Australian network this winter, adding more Bali and Jakarta services to match higher demand from holiday and business markets.

Garuda Indonesia will expand its Australian network this winter, adding more Bali and Jakarta services to match higher demand from holiday and business markets.

From mid‑December 2025, Melbourne–Bali flights will jump to 11 per week during the busiest travel weeks. The big change? Four new evening departures (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) perfect for travellers who want to clock off work and head straight for the tropics. Return legs include new daytime options, while overnight flights remain for those squeezing every last drop from their holiday.

It’s a move that caters to both the beach crowd and those connecting onwards through Denpasar.

Jakarta flights ramp up

Beyond Bali, Garuda is sharpening its focus on Jakarta as a corporate and MICE hub. Melbourne–Jakarta services will increase to four weekly, while Sydney–Jakarta will rise to six weekly from October 2025 before hitting daily frequency in the December–January surge.

The extra capacity makes it easier for business travellers and groups to tap Garuda’s wider domestic and international network, including seamless onward connections into Asia and Europe.

Why this matters for the trade

Bali remains Australia’s unofficial backyard holiday spot, and more flights mean more inventory to sell in peak season. The new Melbourne evening departures are a fresh selling hook for agents targeting after‑work getaways. Meanwhile, Jakarta’s uplift underscores Garuda’s corporate ambitions and opens stronger regional and long‑haul connections, prime angles for both leisure packages and business itineraries.
