If you’re looking for more travel options to Bali – and the Indonesian province is booming among Aussie holidaymakers right now – Batik Air Malaysia has answered the call.
Batik Air Malaysia will increase the number of seats it offers between Melbourne, Bali and Kuala Lumpur as well as Brisbane, Bali and Kuala Lumpur during the Australian 2024/2025 summer season.
As part of the capacity upgrade, the KL-based carrier will upgauge both routes from a Boeing B737 MAX 8 to the larger Airbus A330-300 aircraft on several of its weekly flights.
Batik Air Malaysia filed for the capacity increases on the selected services to Australia last week, Aeroroutes reported, signalling a rise in demand for travel between Australia, Bali and Malaysia.
Flight searches by Karryon on the airline’s website confirmed the change in aircraft.
From 7 December 2024 to 15 February 2025, the A330 will replace three of the seven weekly MAX 8 services from Brisbane, while from 6 December 2024 to 14 February 2025, the Airbus jet will replace four of the seven weekly Boeing flights.
The upgrades come just after Batik Air reduced its direct Canberra-Bali route (the only nonstop service between the Australian capital and the Indonesian island) to twice-weekly flights – down from three services per week after only two months of operation.
Earlier this year, the full-service carrier also suspended flights to Adelaide just seven months after commencing operations to the South Australian hub.
