There seems to be a fair bit of confusion surrounding the definition of 'souvenirs' at the moment with not one, but two separate tourists confusing historical assets with holiday takeaways.

There seems to be a fair bit of confusion surrounding the definition of ‘souvenirs’ at the moment with not one, but two separate tourists confusing historical assets with holiday takeaways.

Less than a few days after a couple was fined in Poland for attempting to souvenir bricks from Auschwitz, a 24-year-old was charged for trying to board an aircraft with a WW2 bomb.

The American tourist sparked a bomb scare at Vienna International Airport when custom officers found an explosive shell during x-ray control, Yahoo7 reported.

It wasn’t hard to miss because it was a 75mm anti-tank – that’s huge!

Upon realising what was inside the bag, officers ordered an immediate evacuation of the airport and took the traveller aside for questioning.

The tourist said that she had found the shell while hiking in the Austrian Alps and thought it would make a great souvenir. She even washed it ? in her hotel room so her luggage wouldn’t get dirty.

Thankfully, the shell posed no danger to travellers as it was a dud, and despite the woman’s yearning to keep the ‘souvenir’, it was taken away and she was fined some $6,700.
