The service is operated by the airline’s Boeing 787-9, which is custom-designed to ensure passenger comfort on super long-haul services.

Flights will depart Melbourne on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 9.40pm and arrive in San Francisco at 7.00pm on the same day. The return service will depart on the same days at 10.00pm to arrive in Victoria’s capital at 6.30am (+2 days).

Qantas International CEO Alison Webster said the service will meet demand for travel to the Californian city, and she expects it to be popular among corporate travellers.
