This flight attendant was either ticking something off the bucket list or she was well beyond done with her gig.
Either way, she may have raised the bar for iconic ways to leave a company, when she deployed the emergency slide on a plane and exited while all passengers were still on board.
The dramatic (albeit hilarious) departure was confirmed by the airline, with a spokesperson saying the slide was “deployed intentionally” after the aircraft had come to a complete stop in Houston.
A video of her slide was aired on local TV station, KPRC, and showed her toss her bag out of the door behind the cockpit before sliding down herself. She then picked up her bag and walked away.
We imagine she did a “Beyonce” before she made the jump:
Needless to say, the United staff member, who remains anonymous, has been removed from her flying duties – although we’re pretty sure she removed herself.
An airline official said the carrier is speaking with the air hostesses to see why she deployed the slide.
While we’re waiting for an actual reason, we’ve spun a few theories such as fulfilling her lifelong desire to deploy the emergency slide.
Or maybe she was in fight-mode with a fellow steward.
Or maybe one of the 159 passengers just wouldn’t turn off their electronics.
We have our bets on the last one.
All passengers managed to get off the plane safely despite being one flight attendant down and the 737-900 aircraft has been taken out of service temporarily for maintenance.
