Cathay Pacific returns to South Australia with seasonal direct return flights after 5 years away

Cathay Pacific has resumed direct Adelaide–Hong Kong flights with the flag carrier’s first flight back touching down in the South Australian capital on 12 November 2025 after a five-year hiatus.

Cathay Pacific has resumed direct Adelaide–Hong Kong flights with the flag carrier’s first flight back touching down in the South Australian capital on 12 November 2025 after a five-year hiatus.

Hong Kong’s flag carrier will operate thrice-weekly seasonal services between the popular Asian city and Adelaide until 27 March 2026.

It will depart Adelaide on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:30pm, arriving the next day at 10:30am, and from Hong Kong at 12am on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving back in Adelaide at 5:45pm.

Cathay will operate its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft between Hong Kong and Adelaide with fully flat beds in Business, spacious seats in Premium Economy and comfort in the award-winning Economy cabin.  

Passengers can expect inflight menus developed in collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurants on flights departing Hong Kong alongside the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment.

Wi-Fi is available across Cathay Pacific’s entire fleet and is currently complimentary for Business and Cathay Diamond members, Cathay Gold members from 15 November and Cathay members travelling in Premium Economy by the end of 2025.

With Adelaide, Cathay now flies to eight destinations in Australia and New Zealand, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Cairns, Auckland and Christchurch, and will operate almost 100 seasonal return flights in Australasia per week during the summer period.

Cathay Chief Customer & Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said the airline is delighted to return to Adelaide, where it has a long association since it first launched flights there in 1992.
