The cheapest days to fly from Brisbane for a single one-way ticket with no checked baggage are 13 and 20 December to Sydney with prices from $77 and up to $297 to Perth (departing 25 December).
For Sydneysiders, the cheapest deals out of Sydney for a single one-way ticket with no checked baggage are 19 December to Melbourne from $55 and up to $304 to Perth (departing 6 and 12 December).
Departing from any Melbourne Airport, the cheapest day to fly to Sydney is 13 December with a single one-way ticket with no checked baggage from $57 and up to $246 to Perth (departing 9 December).
Head interstate for New Year’s Eve

Additionally, travellers can also save money by travelling to select destinations from these three major cities on New Year’s Eve.
On 31 December 2023, Compare the Market found flight prices can vary up to $260 in Brisbane (to Canberra), $300 in Sydney (to Canberra) and $300 in Melbourne (to Cairns) on Skyscanner.
Holidaymakers from Brisbane could snap up one of the cheapest tickets in December to Hobart and Perth, while Sydneysiders could get to Melbourne for as little as $63 if they fly out on New Year’s Eve.
Melburnians could also make a trip to Hobart or Adelaide for less than $100 on 31 December.
