Let the countdown begin! There’s exactly seven days OR 168 hours until Melburnians receive non-stop access to island paradise via Air Vanuatu’s new flights to Port Vila.

In one week (on 20 June 2019), Vanuatu’s national carrier, Air Vanuatu, will commence its new non-stop service between Melbourne and Port Vila.

The inaugural flight will depart Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport at 7.00am (local time), where no doubt the airline has big plans for the launch.

Services will be operated on Air Vanuatu’s Boeing 737-800, which is equipped to carry passengers in eight Business Class seats and 162 Economy Class seats.

After the inaugural services, the non-stop route will operate from Victoria’s capital on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to arrive in Port Vila at 12.30pm. The flight time is around four hours.

A return service from Port Vila will operate at 4.15pm (local time) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving in Melbourne at 8.15pm (local time), with a flight time of just over five hours.

Air Vanuatu said in a statement that the new route makes a new era of travel, in which the carrier expands its offerings to the Aussie market.

“The direct route marks a new era in travel for Air Vanuatu, expanding the airline’s offering in Australia and bringing the South Pacific nation closer to Melburnians.”
