Victorians and other US-bound Aussies will have another choice to fly Stateside, with Delta Air Lines commencing flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles in late 2025.
Delta will kick off the new non-stop service flying LA-Melbourne on 3 December. The first Melbourne-LA flight will depart on 5 December.
Utilising its 275-seater A350-900 on the route, the American carrier will operate the seasonal service three times per week, with a view to growing capacity as more A350s enter its fleet.

Melbourne-bound flights will depart LAX on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9.25pm and arrive at Tullamarine at 8.15am (+2).
Flights to LA will leave Melbourne at 10:25am on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and land in California at 6.10am.
The new service will mark the first non-stop A350 flights between Melbourne and the US, offering Delta’s new four-class cabin, including 40 premium Delta One suites, Premium Select, Comfort+ and Main Cabin.
Delta One passengers enjoy enhanced privacy, fully reclining seats with recycled-material bedding, artisan amenity kits and chef-curated meals. Delta Premium Select offers wider seats, deeper recline, an adjustable footrest and an upgraded dining experience.

All travellers can access refreshed food and beverage options, premium drinks and over 1,000 hours of complimentary in-flight entertainment on Delta Studio.
Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus expects the service to boost local tourism.
“Delta is one of the largest airlines in the world and is consistently rated one of North America’s best carriers, so we’re thrilled to have them adding Melbourne to their network because of the opportunities it presents for Victorians and Victorian business,” she said.
“The new services will help bring hundreds of extra visitors to our state each week, which will help support Victoria’s world-class tourism, dining and hospitality venues.

“North America is an incredibly important inbound market for us, and we’re proud to be partnering with Visit Victoria to help restore capacity on the Los Angeles route and incentivise North American tourists to make Melbourne their first stop.
“The arrival of a new carrier on the route will also make it easier for Victorian businesses to connect with one of our key trading partners and Victorian families wanting to travel to Disneyland or North American ski fields.
With the new service, the Victorian capital will become the third Australian port for Delta Air Lines, joining Sydney and Brisbane. The carrier also flies directly to Auckland.
In addition, Aussies flying the new service will have access to more than 40 onward connections in the US with Delta, LAX’s largest premium airline.

Delta One customers at LAX enjoy an exclusive lounge with premium dining, wellness areas and seamless access via private check-in and TSA screening.
Digital ID streamlines airport navigation, while Delta’s recent US$2.3 billion transformation at LAX includes the modern Sky Way and Terminal 3, featuring a central check-in lobby, expanded security and an award-winning Sky Club.
In December 2024, Delta Air Lines launched a new service in Brisbane, offering three seasonal flights per week to and from Los Angeles.
